PAT data management meets Industry 4.0 at IFPAC

At IFPAC Washington 2019, Optimal Industrial Technologies will showcase (stand 308) the latest developments for its PAT knowledge management platform synTQ, while also delivering two significant presentations. The presentations will explore the infrastructure required to process and store data generated by PAT and how the needs of Industry 4.0 can be met.

From its first conference, held in 1987, IFPAC has established itself as the industry’s premier event on industrial process analysis, process knowledge and quality assurance. In line with these topics, Optimal, one of the key industry players in process analytical technology (PAT), regularly attends the Annual Meetings in Washington as well as other IFPAC symposiums worldwide.

At the 33rd edition of IFPAC Annual Meeting in Washington, Optimal will contribute to the debate on the future of advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies in different sectors, including pharmaceutical & biotech, chemical, petrochemical and food & beverage.

Martin Gadsby, Director at Optimal Industrial Technologies, will deliver two presentations during the event that address some of the biggest challenges in PAT and advanced manufacturing. These include how to safely and efficiently handle Big Data, continuously generated during manufacturing processes, as well as the regulatory compliance and cybersecurity issues that need to be considered.

The first talk will outline “How to Effectively Manage the Data and Knowledge Management Demands that will be Encountered with a PAT Deployment”. The discussion will be part of the Tuesday 5th March AM-IX-A session on “Data Infrastructure and Knowledge & Industry 4.0”, taking place in the Linden Oak Conference Room from 7:50 AM to 12:00 PM.

The second presentation, titled “Implementing PAT Globally with Data Integrity in a Cyber Secure and Regulatory Compliant Framework”, will follow on the same day during the PM-VIII session. This focuses on “Data Integrity: Ensuring End-to-End Data Quality with the Emergence of Cloud, IoT and Industry 4.0” and will be held in the Grand Ballroom H from 1:05 PM to 5:40 PM.

Both during the talks and on the exhibition booth, Optimal will showcase synTQ, its PAT knowledge management platform. This acts as a process orchestrator, providing robust storage and visualisation of process data, instrumentation settings and control parameters. In addition, the platform hosts and executes in real-time multivariate quality prediction models and delivers live feedback to process control equipment. Consequently, manufacturers can slash their production cycle times from weeks to hours and boost productivity.

In order to protect the records within the system as well as guarantee that these are authentic, incorruptible and confidential, where applicable, synTQ contains physical and procedural controls. In this way, end users can meet the regulatory requirements of different regulatory bodies, such as the FDA.

“With its extensive experience in PAT, Optimal has been an active member of the IFPAC community for many years and we look forward to attending this year’s conference in Washington,” commented Martin Gadsby. “synTQ is not only one of the few proven and well-accepted knowledge management frameworks available on the market, but also a key tool to implement a secure, regulatory compliant and efficient PAT system. Our experts will be available throughout the event to discuss specific requirements and implementation questions around PAT.”
